Water droplets

May 19, 2007

The following movie is something I observed and then shot while crossing the ferry to the Isle of Wight. The wind outside seems to be blowing the water droplets o my windscreen in time with the music. Its good to be able to observe such things as they can lead to other bigger creative ideas. Anyway I hope you like it…

Dust

May 15, 2007

I recently took some shots of dust particles being back lit by a projector.

Penguins

May 4, 2007

Claire (my girlfriend) recently bought me this amazing picture at a car boot sale. It really is a great image. She bought it off of the artists mother who sold it for £1 (even though the artist, her son, was watching the transaction while perched in the open back of her Volvo estate) – well maybe it proves that great art doesn’t have to be expensive and certainly doesn’t need to recognise itself as great art.

My watches

March 23, 2007

I have a special interest in watches – here are some I’ve collected so far…

7ba0_1.JPG

• Sicura – Chronograph [60s/70s] (pictured above)
• Locman – Mare titanium chronograph
• Nooka – ZEN-H
• Victorinox – Seaplane 25582

I would reccomened that anyone interested in these issues (and other issues regarding human beings and the planet) to read John Gray’s “Straw Dogs: Thoughts on Humans and Other Animals”.

The book open with “Most people today think they belong to a species that can be master of its destiny…”

Anyway, its actually more about the confusion between humanism, modern humanism, science and theology. But, it does touch on some interesting theories about the planet – including Gaia hypothesis – “The Gaia hypothesis is an ecological theory that proposes that living and nonliving parts of the earth are viewed as a complex interacting system that can be thought of as a single organism. Named after the Greek earth Goddess, this theory postulates that all living things have a regulatory effect on the Earth’s environment that promotes life overall.”

You can order “Straw Dogs: Thoughts on Humans and Other Animals” from amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Straw-Dogs-Thoughts-Humans-Animals/dp/1862075964/ref=sr_1_1/202-5884423-5124611?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1174469322&sr=1-1
